Ghafari Signs onto AIA 2030 Commitment

This Earth Day, Ghafari is excited to announce our status as a signatory firm of the AIA 2030 Commitment.

The AIA 2030 Commitment is an initiative spearheaded by the American Institute of Architects aimed at creating accountability and giving firms the tools they need to reach the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 through incremental improvements in project performance. Building operations are responsible for an estimated 30% of greenhouse gas emissions globally. As architects and engineers, we are in a unique position to lead change in the built environment and implement sustainable design strategies on the ground.

As a signatory firm, Ghafari is part of an influential community that has made the commitment to reduce the energy use of the buildings they design by 80%, to report this energy use data, and to track their progress. It is an ambitious goal to be certain – but one that is critical for the welfare of our planet and the health and wellness of our communities.

In signing onto the AIA 2030 Commitment and developing a sustainability action plan, we are formalizing our longstanding commitment and harnessing a data-driven approach to keep ourselves accountable.

At Ghafari, we have long embraced sustainability and human wellness as guiding influences in our work, employing these principles to design and engineer spaces that respect the environment and support the health of their occupants. In signing onto the AIA 2030 Commitment and developing a sustainability action plan, we are formalizing our longstanding commitment and harnessing a data-driven approach to keep ourselves accountable.
