Celebrating the Ghafari Scholars Program

Ghafari was thrilled to take part in the University of Detroit Mercy’s 2026 Scholarship Reception on April 21, a celebration of the myriad scholarships at the University – including the Ghafari Scholars Program.

Representing Ghafari at the event were Troy Pitsch, Manager of Civil Engineering, and Traci Tompkins, Senior HR Business Partner, along with our inaugural Ghafari Scholars Lena Amanoel (junior) and Isaac Stolman (sophomore), both Architectural Engineering majors at the University’s College of Engineering & Science.

We launched the Ghafari Scholars Program in 2023, which provides a scholarship and cooperative work experience to students enrolled at the University’s College of Engineering & Science. This program builds on our commitment to providing meaningful learning experiences and growth opportunities for our industry’s emerging talent.

The Ghafari Scholars Program supports the educational, career, and personal development of exceptional University of Detroit Mercy students typically from economically disadvantaged families who aspire to an engineering career. The four-year scholarship – open to students in the Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering programs – also includes a full-time summer cooperative employment position following the Ghafari Scholar’s first, second, and third years of engineering education.
