Industry Week: “Design for a New Manufacturing: Clients Using Architectural Design Innovation as a Recruiting Tool"
Ghafari’s Global Director of Design, Joe Gonzalez, wrote an article about architecture as a recruiting tool in the manufacturing sector, which recently appeared in IndustryWeek. In it, he discusses Ghafari’s work with Woodward on three office / industrial campuses in Colorado and Illinois, each of which incorporates modern workplace principles, manufacturing best practices, and the company’s brand identity.
“Woodward leaders wanted to incorporate into the design innovative and flexible ways to attract and retain young, technical talent,” he writes about the experience of planning these world-class facilities. “They also wanted to build a template for their operations and facilities that would be able to adapt to ongoing technological change.”
“Campus-like environments, distinctive architectural elements and collaborative workplaces ultimately distinguish the new facilities,” he continues. “The chief challenge was optimizing all aspects of the project from budgeting, programming and engineering, while meeting complex programmatic requirements. [Woodward’s] initiative demonstrates that forward-thinking planning and design provide a value-added proposition that can benefit client and community alike.”
Ghafari provided comprehensive planning, architecture, and engineering services for Woodward’s new headquarters campus in Fort Collins, Colorado, along with an office / manufacturing campus in Loves Park, Illinois, and an office / production facility in Niles, Illinois.
