Ghafari Honored with 2019 AIA Grand Rapids Firm Achievement Award
Grand Rapids, MI – Global architecture + engineering firm Ghafari Associates (Ghafari) is pleased to announce that it has won the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Grand Rapids chapter’s 2019 Firm Achievement Award. Ghafari was presented with this recognition at the annual AIA Grand Rapids Honor Awards celebration held on October 17. The Firm Achievement Award is presented to a firm that is well known and respected within the architectural community, and has demonstrated leadership and contributions to all aspects of the architectural profession, the AIA, and the community for a minimum of five years.
“We are incredibly honored to be selected as the recipient of this year’s Firm Achievement Award”, said Tom Tooley, Senior Vice president. “This recognition means so much to our team, whose extraordinary talent is the reason we are here today.”
“This city is growing with an energy and speed few people could have imagined just 10 years ago and it is a great place and time to be an architect,” said Steve Fry, president of Ghafari’s Grand Rapids office. “These are just a few of the reasons that Ghafari sought to expand to West Michigan.”
The Grand Rapids office has a long-standing history with the AIA Grand Rapids chapter, having several employees who have served on the board throughout the years in various roles. “We believe in an approach to architecture that invites the community members and project stakeholders to share their ideas,” said current AIA Grand Rapids president, Andrew Eckert. “Architects have the responsibility to leave a lasting impact on our community, and we believe the Ghafari team has done just that.”
The Grand Rapids office specializes in architecture and interior design, and has worked on many high-profile projects in the area, such as 601 Bond Apartments, the Warner Building and Hyatt Place, the Waters Building and Mercantile Bank, among others.
