Woodward Holds Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate Completion of Lincoln Campus

Woodward, Inc. held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 7 to celebrate completion of its Lincoln Campus in Fort Collins, Colorado, designed by leading architecture / engineering / consulting services firm Ghafari Associates. Ghafari provided master planning, architecture and engineering services for the 100-acre campus, which will house engineering and manufacturing spaces, administrative offices, conferencing facilities, collaboration zones, seminar and training rooms and a multi-level atrium cafeteria. Woodward is the world’s oldest and largest independent designer, manufacturer and service provider of energy control systems for the aerospace and industrial industries.

“The planning and architecture of the buildings creates a dynamic environment that responds to the natural surroundings,” said Joe Gonzalez, FAIA, Ghafari’s Global Director of Design. “Through the use of daylighting, material systems and strategic site planning, all building elements are designed to create an integrated, state-of-the-art campus.”

Approximately 655 of Woodward’s 1,200 Northern Colorado employees will work at the Lincoln Campus. The industrial turbo-machinery systems (ITS) building will include executives, information technology, finance support, global supply chain and corporate development staff. The ITS building is organized around a multi-level “Main Street” corridor that serves as the spine of the campus and is punctuated by two structurally suspended staircases that connect the various functions.

Woodward’s headquarters building will anchor the campus to the east and provide convenient linkages back to the site’s engineering and manufacturing components. The building also contains Woodward University, a learning and development center, which will be made accessible to Woodward members globally. Through the development of this and other new facilities, Woodward aims to attract the best and brightest talent, create new jobs in the community and enable operational growth.

The completion of the facility marks the third successful collaboration between Ghafari and Woodward, which implements a rebranding design that emphasizes innovation and accentuates the company’s identity. Ghafari provided master planning, architecture and engineering services of Woodward’s 70-acre Aircraft Turbine Systems manufacturing and office campus in Loves Park, Illinois, as well as architecture and engineering services for a consolidated manufacturing and office facility for Woodward’s Airframe Systems manufacturing group in Niles. Both completed construction in 2015.
