Q+A with Varisali Patel, Manager, Mechanical Engineering (Vadodara)
How do you describe your job to people outside of the industry?
I describe my job as mechanical engineer who is responsible for designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems that create healthy surroundings for building occupants and allow buildings to be functional, habitable, and safe. Working with Ghafari provides me the opportunity to work on large-scale and complex projects, like airports and automotive manufacturing facilities.
Why did you decide to become an engineer?
I have a passion for complex and challenging engineering. As a child, I was fascinated with engineering and how engineers are different altogether in creating complex buildings and facilities.
How would you describe life at Ghafari?
Life at Ghafari is always busy, interesting, and full of technical challenges due to the complexity of our projects.
What is the most exciting thing that has happened during your time here?
I have been fortunate to work with intelligent and very experienced engineers who have helped me to advance my engineering skills. During my time at Ghafari, I’ve had the opportunity to work on different project types, including automotive industrial plants, airports, MRO facilities, and more. Every project has been unique and challenging, but the most exciting aspect has been witnessing projects come to reality.
What is a key idea or lesson you have learned while working at Ghafari?
I have realized the importance of the interdisciplinary coordination and teamwork. Teamwork is key to produce high-quality and well-integrated projects. Working in an environment of stringent deadlines has taught me how to be self-disciplined and adhere to time management.
How do you like to spend your free time?
I like to spend my free time with family and friends. I also enjoy watching and playing cricket.
