Q+A with Neslihan Ceylan, Structural Drafter (Istanbul)
How do you describe your job to people outside of the industry?
As a structural drafter, my job is to create detailed drawings and plans of buildings, hangars or other structures. I work closely with architects, engineers, and other professionals in the construction industry to turn their designs into technical drawings that can be used for construction purposes.
Basically, I use CAD, Revit software to produce accurate and precise representations of structural elements such as beams, columns, and foundations. These drawings act as a blueprint for construction crews to follow, ensuring that structures are built safely and to design specifications.
Why did you decide to become a Structural Drafter?
Drawing has always been at the forefront for me. I would always have scribble paper and draw the buildings and different designs around me.
I was excited to see a designed project come to life.
Apart from that, I wanted to be more in the kitchen of the business because we are an earthquake country. I knew that every step of every job was important. That's why field drawings that require precision and meticulousness have a very important place for me.
