Ghafari Celebrates Groundbreaking Ceremony for 6K Energy PlusCAM Battery Material Production Plant
Ghafari team leaders were on hand to celebrate the June 13 groundbreaking of the world’s first sustainable multi-chemistry cathode manufacturing plant, a $200+ million production facility for 6K Energy located in Jackson, Tennessee. Known as the PlusCAM factory, the full-scale battery material manufacturing plant is slated to open in late 2024 with an annual production capacity of 13K metric tons.
Ghafari is providing full architecture, engineering, and operations + systems design services for the PlusCAM factory, the world’s first UniMelt® plasma cathode plant that will offer low-cost, ultra-sustainable production of battery material for localized supply chains in the United States. Evans General Contractors is heading up the construction efforts.
Chairman + Founder Yousif B. Ghafari, Executive Vice President Mike Scimeca, and Vice President Scott Heywood represented Ghafari at the groundbreaking ceremony, which was attended by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, 6K CEO Dr. Aaron Bent, and 6K Energy President Sam Trinch along with local business and community leaders and lithium-ion battery industry executives.
