Matthew is one of the industry’s leading champions of integrated project delivery, an approach that leverages collaboration-facilitating technologies and lean principles to maximize the overall efficiency of the design and construction supply chain. As a project director, he helps guide integrated project teams in the application of lean-inspired tools and methodologies. He also coaches teams on the use of vPlanner, Ghafari’s visual planning software solution that enables integrated teams to track thousands of interrelated project activities in a streamlined, easy-to-follow fashion.
Matthew began his career as a design architect, and quickly recognized the role that 3D technologies could play in informing and enhancing design decision-making. He helped pioneer the use of generative systems to rapidly explore design alternatives and the subsequent use of parametric 3D technologies to improve interdisciplinary coordination. Today, he applies his passion for collaborative tools and methods to lead the integration efforts on a number of groundbreaking projects in the healthcare, government, and commercial sectors.
Matthew holds a Master of Architecture from Yale University and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Cincinnati. He is also an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). A frequent speaker on the topics of integrated project delivery, lean principles, and virtual design and construction, Matthew has presented at a variety of forums, including the Lean Construction Institute Congress, BIMForum, and the AIA state conventions in New York and Ohio.
