A mixed-use high-rise helping to drive Detroit’s renaissance.

Overview

To help drive the renaissance of Detroit, LIFTbuild engaged the Ghafari team to design a mixed-use, 16-story building in the heart of the city’s Greektown neighborhood on the site of a vacant surface lot. The high-rise tower houses 153 apartment units and 12 condominiums.

Tailoring the Solution

A landmark in the use of top-down construction technology.

We provided architectural, interior design, and engineering services for the high-rise, which contains 78 studio, 50 one-bedroom, and five two-bedroom apartments, in addition to condominiums and office space.

In addition to being the first residential property in the Greektown neighborhood, this project utilized LIFTbuild, a new technology developed specifically for the construction of high-rise buildings. The revolutionary process allows individual floors to be built on the ground, and then lifted into place, ultimately accelerating a given construction schedule by up to 30%.

This private development plays a significant role in the rebirth of the city, paving the way for LIFTbuild to construct additional high-rise buildings that employ their innovative technology.
