Under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) funding, Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) identified several locations campus-wide to receive improvements, including furniture upgrades and replacements in student areas, all while following COVID-19 safety protocols. GRCC engaged Ghafari to walk them through the process – from selecting cleanable fabrics to offering a wider variety of furniture options.
Applying our trusted design and FF+E management expertise, we developed new collaborative furniture layouts and improvement options for select dining, open lounge, and outdoor patio areas. For each space, we also chose new flexible and durable furniture styles that enhance student learning, support lower density, and are easy to sanitize.
Working with GRCC, all furniture installations were designed, specified, and coordinated by the start of the Fall 2021 semester, ahead of the end of the 2021 completion deadline for projects funded under the Act.
