Ford is making bold advancements in their commitment to the production of electric vehicles. To expand their efforts, they have strategically teamed with SK Innovation in the development of multiple battery plant facilities. This program will bring production of lithium-ion batteries onshore to be used in Ford’s electric vehicles and beyond.
Ghafari is providing full architecture and engineering design services for a new mega battery plant, the size of 60 football fields, as part of Ford’s electric vehicle production campus known as BlueOval City. The plant will supply batteries to the electric F-Series trucks manufactured at the massive site, which encompasses six square miles and is being compared to their iconic Rouge Complex in Michigan.
Our design of the Tennessee battery plant is being simultaneously replicated on a site in Kentucky (another Ghafari-designed campus). These projects have required immense coordination by our team to provide design solutions for similar projects on different sites with different contractors.
