A hospitality space centered around community.

Overview

Rockford is a growing town north of Grand Rapids. Recent developments have created a demand for additional hotel rooms. Our client sought to develop a unique property that would attract visitors and provide a space for the local community. The goal was to create a local gathering spot that speaks to the character of Rockford. The location offers a walkable experience to downtown along the banks of the Rouge River with access to the White Pine Trail.

A hotel rooted in small-town character.

The three-story hotel provides 54 rooms, a lobby bar, restaurant, and a ground-floor retail space that activates the street, providing shopping and dining opportunities to the downtown. The hotel also features a “turn-of-the-century” front porch with wooden tables, chandeliers, and rocking chairs.

It was important to maintain and complement the unique character of downtown Rockford in our design. We incorporated the contextual detail of neighboring structures and designed the hotel to serve as a nod to the surrounding small-town charm.

Intentional design for an upscale experience.

The hotel aesthetics keep within the character and charm of downtown Rockford. Each amenity and design choice was intentional, selected to complement the upscale pedestrian tradition of the existing streetscape.
