With the development of an all-new airport in Istanbul, Turkish Airlines (THY) is building a state-of-the-art campus comprised of 50+ next-generation support facilities that will total over 650,000 SM. THY engaged our team to provide master planning, architecture, and engineering services that set a new standard in airline operational excellence. We developed a campus that is not only highly functional but imparts a unified visual identity that thoughtfully applies the airline’s revamped global brand.

Our team refined the campus master plan to organize the various operational facilities into four primary districts:

  • Area A – an aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) complex
  • Area B – an air cargo center
  • Area C – various airport support facilities, including an operations center that serves as the site headquarters
  • Area D – a line maintenance hangar + additional support facilities

From the plan, we developed a cohesive design representative of THY’s ambitious growth, corporate rebranding efforts, and overall vision. Advancing THY’s commitment to sustainability and innovative technology, we designed 24/7 energy-efficient facilities that will provide effective and functional work environments for their employees, allow for extensive daylight harvesting, and enable maximum operational productivity. When complete, each individual facility will be among the world’s largest of its kind in terms of capacity.

We created a deliberate, operations-driven master plan as well as a distinct identity that unifies their campus. From our use of sustainable materials to our application of color and graphics, we sought to capture THY’s “Widen Your World” vision and translate their global brand into a powerful architectural statement.
