Ted Oberlies Quoted in Wall Street Journal Article about Improvements in U.S. Worker Productivity

Ted Oberlies, Senior Vice President of Ghafari’s Aviation Group, was quoted in an article about improvements in U.S. worker productivity that appeared in The Wall Street Journal. Titled “U.S. Worker Productivity Improves at Best Pace in Three Years”, the article cites strengthened investments in technology as an important factor in the 2.9% quarterly increase in worker productivity (the strongest quarterly gain since early 2015), particularly for nonmanufacturing companies like Ghafari. Below is an excerpt:

“At architecture firm Ghafari Associates, LLC, advancements in data sharing have allowed designers in Chicago, India and the Middle East to work collaboratively, said Ted Oberlies, an executive in the firm’s aviation group.

“Improved 3-D technology has let customers see their buildings earlier in the process, he added. The technology, rolled out over the past few years, ‘allows us to really reduce the mistakes and improve the coordination,’ he said. ‘We can design faster and with a lot less wasted time.’

“Mr. Oberlies said without the technology, the company would have had to hire more workers to complete marquee projects at Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Istanbul Atatürk Airport.”
