Q+A with Vickie York, Hospitality Coordinator

Q+A with Vickie York, Hospitality Coordinator

How do you describe your job to people outside of the industry?

My position as Hospitality Coordinator with Ghafari is to be certain our team members are supplied with the commodities that make the workplace pleasant, clean, and comfortable. It is also to provide quality hospitality to all guests. Whatever it takes to make the visit and working relationship a positive for our clients…if they enjoy home-baked banana bread or cookies, it is my pleasure to serve!

Why did you decide to become a hospitality coordinator?

I have a passion for hospitality. I enjoy my position more than a word could express. I believe I was just called to be doing what I am, so doing that with Ghafari is truly a wonderful experience.

How would you describe life at Ghafari?

The Ghafari team is very passionate about our work and service to our clients. Life does get quite hectic at times with the volume of opportunities, but the teams work together respectfully to be certain the client’s needs are met and they have the best experience we can provide.

What is the most exciting thing that has happened during your time here?

The most exciting things that have happened during my time (there are multiple) have been the celebrations of successes because they ensure our stability for continued business and personal opportunities. Namely, the anniversary celebrations and the TechConnect event.

What is a key idea or lesson you have learned while working at Ghafari?

Being certain our clients are provided the best service – and in my case, I must provide great service to my internal clients so they are up to the task!

How do you like to spend your free time?

Spending time with my family: my husband of 26 years, two daughters, a son-in-law, one granddaughter (born December 2018), three stepchildren, and five step-grandchildren. I enjoy hosting family gatherings, practicing yoga, reading, walking, of course cooking, baking, and volunteering with my faith-based community.
