Q+A with Damian Munoz

MEP Field Inspector, Chicago

How do you describe your job to people outside of the industry?

I am our client’s eyes and ears in the field where I coordinate and manage field operations to complete the project in a timely manner while meeting quality and safety requirements.

Why did you decide to become an engineer?

I graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering; I also have some architectural education background. I decided to become an engineer during my architectural studies after noticing that the structure courses taught in the architecture department weren’t as satisfactory as in the civil engineering department. I intend to pursue a master’s degree in architectural engineering to eventually become a mechanical engineering designer.

The most exciting thing that still has to happen is to meet Mr. Yousif Ghafari.

What is a key idea or lesson you have learned while working at Ghafari?

Combining technology and technical knowledge to make a project successful.

How do you like to spend your free time?

Reading stuff related to engineering / architecture. Also sketching. I joined the Urban Sketchers Chicago a few months ago, so I like to sketch buildings and construction details.
