Ghafari Promotes Jim Jobes, AIA and Tom Tooley, AIA to Executive Vice Presidents

Dearborn, MI – Award-winning global architecture, interior design, engineering, process design, and consulting services firm Ghafari Associates (Ghafari) is excited to announce the following promotions:

  • Jim Jobes, AIA to Executive Vice President and Business Unit Leader for the Chicago division
  • Tom Tooley, AIA to Executive Vice President and Business Unit Leader for the Grand Rapids, Michigan division

In their elevated roles, Jobes and Tooley will lead operations and strategic development in their respective offices, while continuing to pursue, foster, and maintain client partnerships and new opportunities.

Jim Jobes, AIA joined the Ghafari team in 2006 as a project manager and has steadily ascended to an executive leadership role. He has been a key contributor to Ghafari’s development throughout the Americas, having launched the firm’s operations in Fort Worth, Texas, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, while collaborating with clients that include John Deere, FedEx, UPS, Southwest Airlines, and American Airlines. With over 25 years of industry experience, he has developed a diverse project portfolio ranging from airport facilities to large-scale manufacturing plants to R+D spaces. Jobes holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Indiana University.

Tom Tooley, AIA joined Ghafari as a senior vice president following the firm’s 2018 acquisition of Grand Rapids-based Concept Design Group. Throughout an architectural career of more than 30 years, he has demonstrated his passion for design and Grand Rapids through downtown-area projects like Arena Place, Venue Tower, 601 Bond, The Warner Building and Hyatt Place. Tooley holds a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in architecture, both from Lawrence Technological University.
