Archello: The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck

Ghafari-designed restaurant The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck was profiled on Archello. The Grand Rapids, Michigan eatery was part of the Amway Hotel Corporation’s revitalization of their signature property along the riverfront in the downtown area. Our team worked with the hotel and renowned chef Wolfgang Puck's design team to come up with a vision for this location, which called for the seamless integration of a modern and industrial design into a traditional hotel lobby.

The program includes a dual-level riverfront terrace with seating for 80 guests, a new riverfront facade, a wine tasting room, new bar, and a staircase that connects to a downstairs private dining area.

With an aggressive schedule of only nine months, we were tasked with completely transforming the space, and bringing a new global concept from Wolfgang Puck to life, while minimizing the impact to hotel guests. The new stair and custom wine case grabs guests' attention, while an open kitchen and airy interior – incorporating materials such as wood, glass, and tile – create a relaxed and inviting setting.

In total, the restaurant – the first of its kind in the United States – can accommodate 230 guests.
