U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry Visits Ford Plant in Sanand

On January 12, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry visited Ford Motor Company’s soon-to-be-opened vehicle and engine assembly plant in Sanand, India. Ghafari provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services for the 4.3-million-square-foot manufacturing complex.

The Sanand plant is Ford’s second in India and slated to begin production by the end of the first quarter of 2015. The new facilities will have the capacity to produce up to 240,000 vehicles and 270,000 engines annually.

Secretary Kerry’s visit to the Sanand plant was part of a short visit to the western Indian state of Gujarat, during which he aimed to highlight the strong interest of U.S. businesses in investing in India.
