LCI Michigan CoP Takt Planning Workshop

Ghafari’s Samir Emdanat (President + Cofounder of vPlanner) and Matthew Jogan (vPlanner Project Director) are leading a Lean Construction Institute (LCI) Michigan Community of Practice workshop that offers a unique opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Takt Planning for application on construction projects. Through hands-on activities and in-depth discussion, participants will learn how to improve in-sequence work, balance resources, and improve flow, which form the foundation of proper implementation of the Last Planner System® of production control.

Takt is a German word that refers to “beat” or “rhythm”. Takt Planning (TP) is a work structuring method applied during phase planning. It enhances Last Planner System® implementation through the creation of clear production execution strategies that not only improve resource and material flow at the job site but also stabilize the supply chain and lead to better decision-making during design. TP reduces variability by setting a predictable production rate for standard activities across well-defined geographic work areas.

During the workshop you will learn the fundamentals of takt planning, how it relates to the Last Planner System, and how it can be used to drive targeted Lean improvements. You will learn takt hands-on by doing. The workshop format will be group activities and hands-on simulations followed by discussion.

Attendees will leave with a solid understanding of what takt is and how takt plans are developed, how they are used to manage production, and how takt is integrated within the overall Last Planner System framework.

The day-long workshop is taking place at the historic GM Factory One, the iconic original General Motors factory built in 1886 and a great setting for a workshop on takt production management.

This event is limited to 60 participants. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Save 10% when you register by June 1!
