With over 35 years in his profession, Steve represents a strong history of creative and practical space design. As an executive, project manager, and architect, he has collaborated with clients on a diverse portfolio of corporate and commercial projects, ranging from mixed-use facilities, multi-family residential buildings, and restaurants to law offices, financial institutions, and retail spaces.

Steve founded and built Concept Design with the aim of being a collaborative architectural resource for clients. Following Ghafari’s acquisition of Concept Design in 2018, he continues that proud legacy as president emeritus of our Grand Rapids office, where he is responsible for managing client relationships and new pursuits. Throughout his celebrated career, he has advised many clients on design and layout considerations as well as lease negotiations and terms, potential renovation costs, building efficiencies, and overall building performance expectations and features.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Science in architecture from Ohio State University. He is a long-time member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), having previously served as president of the Grand Valley Chapter. In 2017, he received the AIA Grand Rapids Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also been a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, vice chairman of the Grand Rapids Township Planning Commission, as well as a member of the Grand Rapids Construction Board of Appeals and the Michigan Society of Architects.
