Chicago's central place in North America’s transportation infrastructure—both figuratively and geographically—makes it one of the busiest air transport hubs in the world. Overseen by the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), Chicago O’Hare and Midway International Airports experience immense passenger and air fleet traffic, which grows every year. Both airports are undergoing continuous improvement and modernization, enabling them to provide a world-class passenger experience.
With multiple stakeholders responsible for various roles, cohesive management and direction are essential for the advancement of the airports’ infrastructure and systems.
To support a highly coordinated improvement program, we joined the Chicago Airports Resources Enterprise (CARE) joint venture and its successor, CARE Plus, as a principal partner. Since 2005, CARE / CARE Plus have managed the Capital Improvement Program for the Chicago Airport System, providing owner’s representation and program / construction management services.
The team provides a broad range of consulting services, including financial management, airport resource management, planning and design management, and oversight of the sustainable design program. Additionally, we offer complete construction management services, including scheduling, quality assurance / quality control, contractor security identification, along with oversight of the vehicle access and construction safety programs. In this capacity, we interface with the Federal Aviation Administration Airside Operations, Department of Homeland Security / Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Customs and Immigration Agencies, and CDA and airline operations.
The CARE / CARE Plus team supports multiple interests, seeing that all stakeholders are at the table during various stages of development. Our team facilitates communication and organization to advance the functions and overall progress for both airports, reinforcing Chicago’s position as a leading transportation hub.
