The Jesse White Community Center and Field House, which opened its doors last fall, was featured in the January-February edition of Chicago Architect. The article includes an interview with Ghafari’s Global Director of Design, Joe Gonzalez, FAIA, who details the design intent and functionality of the 30,000-square-foot community facility located in Chicago’s near north side neighborhood.

“Field houses tend to typically look like big buildings, and it was very important that [the Jesse White Community Center] feel a little bit more welcoming along the street,” says Joe.

Ghafari provided complete A/E services for the project, a joint venture between the City of Chicago, Chicago Park District (CPD) and the Jesse White Foundation. The facility serves as the headquarters of the CPD gymnastics program and the internationally renowned Jesse White Tumblers. The center also provides fitness and assembly rooms for members of the surrounding community.
