The Cranbrook Kingswood Girls’ Middle School was recently honored by the American Institute of Architects’ Committee on Architecture for Education (CAE), receiving a CAE Design Excellence Award. The annual awards program honors educational / institutional projects that “demonstrate quality of form, functionality and current architectural responses that promote learning for people of all age groups”.

Ghafari served as the architect of record for the 47,000 sq. ft. facility, working in association with designer Lake | Flato Architects. The girls’ middle school, completed in 2011, was the first new campus built for Cranbrook in several decades.
