Ghafari performed a material flow analysis for Ford’s stamping plant in Woodhaven, a study that was later repeated at Ford’s Chicago and Buffalo stamping plants. The team conducted data collection and material flow studies to assess material handling productivity and determine the average utilization of each indirect material handler for all three locations. Internal logistics opportunities and potential solutions to further improve productivity were also developed.
