The 650,000 sq. ft. manufacturing / assembly plant for Korea’s largest battery manufacturing company will handle full-scale operations to produce lithium-ion polymer battery cells. When fully operational in 2012, the plant will be capable of producing batteries for approximately 200,000 hybrid and electric cars, such as the Chevrolet Volt and the upcoming Ford Focus Electric. The facility incorporates Class 10,000 clean room manufacturing, lab and assembly areas. In addition to engineering, Ghafari is providing 3D BIM integration services for the co-located design-build team, developing an as-build fabrication model to be used for cross-discipline coordination.
