Electrical Designer D2 - Chicago, Illinois
With direct supervision from the Manager of Electrical Engineering or senior staff, provide design for lighting, power and control systems for new construction and/or renovation of industrial or commercial structures in conformance to client requirements and applicable codes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Possess / demonstrate the engineering knowledge and understanding to design or analyze electrical systems for the installation, interconnection, and control of electrical and mechanical components using applicable codes.
- Prepare working drawings for construction on CAD system. Provide CAD support to more senior staff.
- Communicate and work with all other disciplines to produce coordinated construction documents.
- Conduct field measuring and checking at project site.
- Maintain organized project file containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.
- With assistance, edit project specifications.
- Review project submittals (shop drawings) for conformance with contract documents; specify action required for conformance.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree in engineering or construction technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2-6 years related and progressively more responsible experience in electrical engineering field.
Additional Skills
- Microsoft Office, emphasis on Excel and MSWord, Revit, AutoCAD and/or Bentley Microstation.
